Immediate Steps Post-Pickup

The journey from our home to yours is critical. Follow these steps to ensure your new fish arrive safely and start their life in your tank with minimal stress.

Step 01

Steady Transport

Step 02

Turn Off Aquarium Lights

Dim or turn off lights before introducing the fish to reduce stress.

Step 03

Float the Bag

Keep the bag stable: avoid shaking, keep out of direct sunlight, and go home as soon as possible.

Place the sealed bag in the tank for 15-30 minutes to equalize water temperature.

Step 04

Slowly Acclimate Water

Open the bag and gradually add tank water every 5-10 minutes for 20-30 minutes to adjust to pH and hardness.

Step 05

Net the Fish Into the Tank

Use a fish net to move the fish. Do not pour water from the bag into your aquarium.

Step 06

Keep Lights Off

Fish settle in better in low light; leave lights off for a few hours.

Step 07

Do Not Feed Immediately

Wait several hours or until the next day; new fish are usually stressed and may not eat right away.
